What Did Your Character Wish For? That his best friend Kazuma hadn't been killed...
What Potion Did They Receive? Golden potion
Did They Drink It? Yes, he has worryingly little self preservation when it comes to eating/drinking things (ask me about the time he almost drank a bottle of water out of the court record that was suspected of being poisoned). Now he can turn into a little black and tan shiba inu.
Character Questions:
1. Who is the person your character is most bonded with from their canon? Or who is someone they miss the most?
His best friend, Kazuma Asogi. Though they've only known each other for about a year, Ryunosuke uprooted his entire life just to follow Kazuma on his study abroad trip to England. He’s extremely supportive of Kazuma’s goals as a lawyer, and when it appears that Kazuma has died and left his dream of reforming Japan’s legal system unfulfilled, it's that loyalty and devotion to his friend which gets Ryunosuke to step up to the plate and become a lawyer himself.
2. What are they most afraid of?
Allegedly his phobias include heights and the dark. But speaking more existentially, the thing he most fears (at least at this canon point) is completely fucking up this whole lawyer-in-training gig and failing to see Kazuma's wishes through. Which is a legitimate fear, because he's basically only allowed to stay in England and permitted to practice law based on the good will of the Lord Chief Justice. And at his current canon point, he HAS actually been barred from court for an indeterminate amount of time, so his worst fears have kind of been realized...
3. What is their weakness? Emotionally, mentally and physically?
Ryunosuke lacks confidence in himself, and he's incredibly jittery and high strung by nature. He has learned to stand up for himself quite a bit, particularly since starting his studies in London... But he's still easily put on the back foot, and he gets very anxious and flustered in unfamiliar situations. He also has terminal foot-in-mouth disease, despite his efforts to be polite and respectful to everyone he meats. Physically, he's not really keen on exercise (and gets winded from going up two flights of stairs), and he's only 5'6" so... He's not exactly a heavy hitter.
4. What would make them happiest?
Literally? Just having Kazuma back. I know it's comical how many responses to this questionnaire involve Kazuma, but it cannot be overstated how huge of a driving force their relationship is to the narrative, and to Ryunosuke's journey into becoming a fully realized character in his own right.
Because he was asleep just a few feet away from where it happened, Ryunosuke does feel some guilt over Kazuma's death (even though he was drugged into a deep sleep at the time). By this point he's done a lot of grieving and is trying to carry on with life, but he still thinks about Kazuma constantly, and always keeps several mementos of him on his person. Kazuma returning would lift a ton of weight from his shoulders, and also who wouldn't be thrilled to have someone important they've lost re-enter their lives?
5. What’s their type for a lover?
He probably would claim that he hasn't exactly given it much thought, and that he's not much of a romantic... Which is actually believable because he's pretty new at this whole self-reflection/self-actualization thing. I think what he wants is someone dependable and level-headed, who has strong convictions and is willing to stay at his side in a partnership where they support each other through life's many trials.
